Demonstrations and demonstrations were held in many cities in Pakistan to condemn the agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement stressing that as a member of the UN Security Council and the Quartet, it supported the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He noted that the agreement suspended the annexation of parts of the West Bank, which he described as an important element of the agreement, and said that the annexation plans were a major obstacle to the resumption of the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on August 24 in a telephone conversation with Netanyahu that he hoped the agreement would strengthen the stability and security of the Middle East. In the months leading up to the agreement, Israel had secretly collaborated with the United Arab Emirates to combat the COVID 19 pandemic. European media reported that Mossad was discreetly sourcing health supplies from the Gulf states. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, announced at the end of June 2020 that the two countries were cooperating in the fight against coronavirus and that the mossad leader, Yossi Cohen, had visited the VaE several times. However, a few hours later, the United Arab Emirates seemed to downplay this situation by revealing that it was simply an agreement between private companies and not at the state level. The deal also serves as a major foreign policy victory for Trump just months before election day, as polls show he`s lagging behind the alleged Democratic nominee Joe Biden, who has touted his decades of foreign policy experience in the Senate and as vice president. Unlike the handshake between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders at the White House or the 1978 Camp David agreement between Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Menachem Begin of Israel, this agreement is more pragmatic, perhaps less historic and symbolic, rather than a calculation of a product than a letter of history. Every page gets something, every page gives up something. It`s a market that`s been boiled by bad relations.
On 16 August 2020, Israel and the United Arab Emirates opened direct telephone services. The emigrating company APEX National Investment and the Israeli group Tera have signed an agreement on partners in research on COVID-19, making it the first commercial contract between the companies of the two countries since the normalization of relations. Mossad Director Yossi Cohen arrived in the United Arab Emirates on 18 August to discuss security policy cooperation, regional developments and issues with national security advisor Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan with National Security Adviser Tayoun al-Zayed Al Nahyan. It was the first visit by an Israeli official since the agreement was announced. The United Arab Emirates officially ended its boycott of Israel on 29 August. Kelly Craft, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, celebrated the announcement and called it a “huge asset” to President Trump and the world, and said that diplomatic relations show “how hungry we are in the world” and how countries in the Middle East understand that they must “strongly oppose a regime that is the first sponsor of the state of terrorism – Iran.” Prime Minister Netanyahu said there was “no change” in his plans to deny parts of the West Bank if approved by the United States, but added that they would be temporarily suspended. Prior to the agreement, the plan to annex the West Bank by 30% had already been frozen, with the majority of Israelis and government coalition partners Benny Gantz rejecting the plan.
